Firstly an apology to my regular readers for the lack of recent postings. I have been busy wth my minisite empire and a shift to a new location in the country.

The fields of Sunflowers at my new location are a change from the bugs of moreton bay. We picked the wettest period in a hundred years to move and had to do it in stages between downpours. On the last day, I fell over the lawn mower and severely injured myself. Bruising thankfully was all I sustained narrowly missing breaking my clavicle and sternum.

The Southern Moreton Bay Islands or SMBI is now behind us, Hurray. We don’t know what we were thinking when we moved there last year. Populated with Several Million Biting Insects and Small Minded Bloody Idiots. SMBI is a much used acronym on the islands, now I will be using a few of my own.

As a auDA reseller and also an auDA Supply class member, I often find the attitudes towards auDA and their rules on Australian domain names by Australian Domainers strange. auDA makes the rules, auDA enforces the rules. Often the domainers choose to ignore the rules and then complain bitterly. Don’t like the rules guys, well join auDA and help to change them. Stop whinging! Related to this DOMAINER.net.au will be mutated into a news and information site about domaining with special focus on auDA . General domaining will also be featured, including monetisation and utilisation of names.

Traffic is what domaining is all about. The more traffic the better. recently a couple minisites were done that was a “proof of concept” for a client. He seems to have missed the point about minisites and traffic as he expected instant millions of visitors. He is getting minimal traffic to his sites but expected the minute I finished his sites that $100s of income would come his way. Sorry, you know who you are, it does not work that way. The MAIN real reason people should place a minisite on their Aussie names is to protect them against auDA invoking their rules against non-usage.

So young Jessica decided to try and sail around the World solo. Too bad only a few hours into the voyage, near one of the two Stradbroke Islands (I do not know which Island, there is actually North and South) she was hit by a bulk carrier and de-masted. Damn lucky she was not killed. Living on Russell Island, less than 3KMs from North Stradbroke Island, I know exactly the amount of Maritime traffic this region gets.

When will people be called accountable for their ill-advised decisions in life.

16 is TOO young to drive in most countries, so why is it OK for authorities to allow her to sail in busy shipping lanes.

Solo yacht adventures are by their very nature dangerous. Even 30 year sailing veterans would have difficulties doing a solo trip.

16year old girl being attacked by Indian Ocean Pirates is not the sort of NEWS story anyone wants to see. Pirates are willing to attack heavily armed merchant vessels. A single young girl that has advertised to the world her intended route is asking for trouble

Freedom of choice does not apply when people make stupid, silly life-endangering decisions.

Any parent that would even consider allowing this type of foolhardy adventuring needs counseling or arresting. This is child endangerment and reckless behaviour in most Criminal CODES

News Media needs to be blamed for a lot of this stupidity. Channel TEN Digital Station ONE HD is one of the sponsors.

Recently I had the pleasure to attend the Redlands 2030 Visioning workshop the local Redlands Council organised here in the SMBI region. This was a gathering of locals and interested people having a brainstorming and information night to enable the council to plan for the next 20+ years. With the current scare about Swine Flu and it’s possibility for a global Pandemic, it made me think. I realised that the ensuring panic and resultant social isolation that people will find in the security of their own home will have major social and political consequences. It maybe the start of a major and catastrophic change in the whole of society’s mindset towards each other. Paranoid thoughts abouts who has or hasn’t got the flu will change people’s thinking. It is now a time for action not ISOLATION. Be positive and move forward, the world is a wonderful place.
